“Fun in the Sun”
Summer Reading Program It’s time for summer reading! This year we are happy to announce our summer reading program. Research shows us that if students read just 3-5 books over the course of the summer, they will lose very little of what they have learned during the previous school year. With that in mind, we have established a summer reading initiative that we hope will encourage and motivate our students to read over the summer. We are challenging our incoming 6th, 7th, and 8thgraders to read at least 20 hours over the course of the summer. In the report card envelopes that went home June 9, there is a letter that explains the entire program and has a June reading log on the back. The reading log plus several different booklists are available on this website. Scroll down on the left until “Resources” appears, and then click on “Reading.” If there are any questions, please email Mrs. Bernadine Hansen at this website. Now have some “fun in the sun” and read, read, read!!
See you back on August 26. This will be an early release day from 7:40-11:00.
6th grade orientations August 13 and 18 6pm. A-K on the 13th and L-Z on the 18th. If your vacation plans do not allow you to attend on designated date please fell free to come on the date that works best for you and your family. All family members are welcome to attend on this night. 6th grade students will be given their locker assignment and will have the chance to "move-in" to their new home away from home. All students will also be given their homeroom assignment and find out which CORE team (White/Blue/Orange) they will be on for the 2009/2010 school year. Many of the 6th grade teachers and PE/Encore staff will be present to answer questions. Hope to see you on August 13 or 18. Mr. Ludwig
