The Curriculum Guidelines of the district have evolved through the efforts of many groups and individuals over the years. Some areas have come into being because of legislative mandate, others through foresight and creativity. In all cases, every level of our district’s educational personnel has been involved in the democratic development of that which is taught in our schools.

Curriculum development is an on going process of constant evaluation,prioritizing, embellishment, and change. The format of our district’s Curriculum Guidelines will permit us to revise and update the instructional program as needs present themselves. The Illinois State Learning Standards are incorporated into the District 47 curriculum and provide an overall framework.

It is widely known that the teachers of our district are among the best of the profession; therefore, it is known that the teachers and administrators using this guide will industriously and creatively address themselves under the Philosophy of the District to the important job at hand: providing the best possible instructional program for each pupil entrusted to our professional care!
