Vision and hearing screening will be conducted at Husmann on November 10, 13 and 14 with re-screenings held on December 1. Screenings are a simple method by which children with a potential vision or hearing problem may be identified. Per Public Act 093 - 0504, vision screening will be done, as mandated, for the following children: preschool kindergarten, second grade, eighth grade, students new to the school district, students receiving special education services and teacher referrals. The following grades/populations are mandated for hearing screening in Illinois: preschool, kindergarten, first, second, third, special education, teacher referrals and students new to the district. Parent Conferenceswill be held on Monday, Nov. 24, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and Tuesday, Nov. 25 8:00 am to 11:00 am. Scheduling notices have been sent home and a reminder notice will be sent the week of Nov. 17th. Parent conferences are a time when school staff and parents share information regarding the student's progress since the beginning of the year. Please be sure to make every effort to attend this important school meeting.
The state mandated ISAT Test will be administered to all 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students March 2 - March 13. Required testing for grade levels is as follows:
Math and Reading Grades 3, 4, and 5
Science Grade 4
Writing Grades 3 and 5

Kindergarten Registration for 2009-2010 School Year
Parent may register their future Husmann kindergarten student on Monday, January 12, 2009 from 9:30-10:30a.m. and 6:30-7:30p.m. Parents are required to register their child at the school they will attend. After January 31, parents will need to register their child at the District 47 C.O.R.E. Center offices at 300 Commerce Street.
At registration, parents will receive general information about kindergarten and the physical examination forms that must be completed before entering school. To be eligible to attend kindergarten during the 2009-2010 school year, a child must be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2009. State law does not require a child to attend school until he/she is seven (7) years of age. State law requires an original or certified copy of the birth certificate at the time of registration, your child will not be registered without one. Hospital certificates are not acceptable.
If this is your first child in District 47, you will also need PROOF OF RESIDENCY. If you are a homeowner, a signed contract with buyer/seller names and an address, a current tax bill or voter's registration card which reflects your existing address would serve as proof of residency. If you are renting a home or an apartment in Crystal Lake, you must bring in a signed lease. Both the renter and the landlord must sign the lease and state the rental address. If you don't have this information, you will not be able to register your child for kindergarten.
District 47 is required by law to exclude your child from attending school if you do not file a physical exam and immunization form before school starts.

The Honeywell Instant Alert System has been used several times throughout the 2007-08 school year to provide important information to District 47 families. In order for this system to work effectively, parents need to keep their profile updated. When maintaining your profile, you can input additional personal contact information (cell phone, email, text messaging, etc.) and add contact information of other caretakers of your children, such as grandparents or child care providers.
